NOTE: This is a kit to build a toy replica inspired by the Blade from Dishonored. This kit is designed specifically as a con-safe cosplay prop. The end of the prop is squared-off and blunt and is therefore in no way intended to create a potentially dangerous weapon. Any modification to the design as sold is outside the recommendation and responsibility of the creator and manufacturer of this kit.

The default version more closely matches the handle length of the in-game model (2 hand widths). However due to real-world design limitations, this makes the "blade" a little bit shorter.
The XL version is less accurate to the game due to the longer handle (3 hand widths). However, this allows the "blade" length to more closely match the in-game model.
If it helps, when Arkane Studios commissioned one for their office, they picked the XL version.
