Product Description
I was contacted by Kevin Honeycutt, an educational technology specialist at ESSDACK, about recreating the Antikythera Mechanism as a pendant. Inspired by photographs and reconstructions of the original device, I set about creating my own artistic rendition of the artifact. Collaborating with Honeycutt to decide specific details, we came up with the design you see above!
The Antikythera Mechanism is an ancient computer from approximately 100 BC. It was designed to calculate astronomical data, and did so with surprising accuracy for the time it was built. No mechanisms of equal intricacy have been found from the same era.
Weighs approximately 11 grams. Does not include cord or string. No moving parts.
