S Scale CNR Double Ended Plow Body

Canadian National Railways built four double ended snowplows at their Transcona Shops in 1939, # 55696-55699. These plows were intended for use on branchlines where minimal turning facilities existed, and where the line would be in danger of drifting in before the plow train could get back to its home terminal.

This S scale part provides the body for these plows. No rivet detail has been included- there will be some texture on the part from printing, and it's far easier to sand and prime first, then add rivet detail using surface detail decals from either Archer or MicroMark.

You will need to buy the cupola (available at my shop on Shapeways:

) for this car. I recommend cutting your own floor to fit from styrene and add body bolsters to suit your choice of trucks. Screw bosses are provided to mount the floor and trucks. These are cored with pilot holes- you will want to drill and tap, or drill and use self- tapping screws. If using regular freight trucks with 33" wheels, you will need to mount them closer to the car center than the prototype, but this won't show behind the side skirts.
