The Thumb Rail is a long thumb rest for a bass guitar that runs the length of the right hand playing surface (neck to near bridge) allowing for an endless amount of tone variation with a comfortable and familiar hand position. This eliminates the tone-limiting "thumb on the pickup" locations or hand stretching to get where you want to be to get the right tone and attack. Just play.
Secures at standard pick guard screw locations using your existing screws, making it an easily reversible update to your bass.
FITS: This unit is designed specifically for the 70's Fender Jazz Bass (1970-1982 used 4" pickup spacing) and assumes the use of a standard thickness pickguard (2mm). It may fit others, but has only been tested on those years and models listed below. The design allows for the pickup spacing changes between the 60's and 70's (4" for 70-82, 3.6" for all else). It didn't work on p/u spacing of some Squiers and MIJs.
FITMENT TESTED ON:
- Mid-year '76 (the one with the micro-tilt neck)
- Marcus Miller Signature model
Note, due to the length of the rail, this is only available in NON-polished black and white "Strong & Flexible" and "Alumide". Due to that, it has a textured surface. This ads some grip which keeps your thumb in place nicely. If you prefer a smooth surface, we have two-piece models that will allow for "Polished Strong & Flexible" material use...including colors.
