Product Description
The Albatros D.III was one of the most important and iconic fighters of 1917, and many were serving well into 1918. 446 of them were in use in November 1917, and 1200-1440 of them were built. This is the early-production model with the centered upper wing radiator and squared-off rudder.
This model comes in several scales. The 1:285/6mm/1:288 scale model has two aeroplanes with detachable, translucent propeller disks. They are joined by disposable links to keep the price down, since single-part models are more affordable. You can break the links with nail clippers, wire cutters, or similar. See the generic D.III for 1:600 scale.
DESIGNER NOTE: Models at scales smaller than 1:144 may no longer be available. Shapeways discontinued the material for which they were designed, and the newer materials require that each and every model be adjusted to thicken surfaces like wings. If you are interested in a particular model in a small scale, please let me know and I will prioritize it higher in the queue.
