Deck Hatches Closed 1/20th Elco 80' Qty 3

This model is based on detailed Elco drawings for all 80' boats. A list of revisions mentions slight changes. Note that the markings are only printable in 24th scale and up. Quantity used per boat is 3. Bottom of hatches are slightly cambered to match the Elco deck camber. Be very careful with the handles, they are thin and fragile. The special 35th scale version has a crownless (flat) top to minimize sanding, and 50 percent larger "open" markings to make them printable. 48th and 72nd scales have a small support to the deck under the ends of the handles.

Elco deck arrangement drawings (PT 565-624 not available) show all hatch hinges forward. Images show that the galley hatch was sometimes rotated 180 degrees to open against the chart house.

Preparation

For best painting results be sure to follow cleaning with a UV cure from a lamp with the correct output, or the sun.

Locations, to center of hatches
Crew / forecastle hatch: 18" starboard of boat center line, 142.563" aft of forward point of boat.
Galley hatch: 12.563" starboard of boat center line, 322.563" aft of forward point of boat. This puts the cover just slightly ahead of the chart house, see image above.
After deck hatch: On boat center line, 910.313" aft of forward point of boat.

Hold open device usage
Crew / forecastle hatch: PT all.
Galley hatch: PT 103-196 and 314-367 only.
After deck hatch: Not used.
Aft face of device is 36.313" forward of deck hatch center.
