This is a strange thing. There is a challenge related to this model:
Can you stick together Y4-1 (this model), Y4-2, and Y4-3 (two others) without glue?
Model background: The concept of a caltrop can be translated from three dimensions into four ones. Of course, 3D printing is done here, thus, there must be some mapping from 4D to 3D space. A 4D caltrop has been rotated to get "nice" components for each "spike" vector. These components have been used to model 5 chains of straight lines - five, because the 4D caltrop features 5 spikes. A common caltrop has four.
Note that there is also a pendant illustrating a 4D caltrop.
