Hummingbird season is here! Make sure to get your Humm feeders now and be ready for the li'l guys!
This is the original Humm™ Feeder, a test-tube–based hummingbird feeder system! Note that this is still in development; you can buy this and use it, but it's still in the prototyping stages!
For use with the Humm Feeder Cap and Humm Feeder Perch. See set below for easy access to matching components. This feeder requires a 5/8x4 in rimless test tube (sold separately; see links below).
Insert test tube fully into the sleeve
Fill test tube so it is 1/5 full with white sugar, then fill to top with very warm but not hot tap water. Why tap water? Winter nectar ratio? Visit this link to read more.
Hold with finger over tube opening and shake until fully dissolved.
Slide Humm Feeder Perch on test tube.
Cap off test tube with Humm Feeder Cap.
Insert suction cup in larger hole on vertical plate, and then snap it into the smaller hole.
Apply suction cup to window such that the test tube is angled upward.
Rotate the perch until the raised dot on the ring is pointing up.
Never use honey in a hummingbird feeder. Use white granulated sugar. Read more at Audubon.org...
Replace nectar (sugar/water mixture) weekly and gently wash the printed pieces. Wash the glass test tube in a vinegar/water solution and rinse thoroughly about three times in warm water to remove the vinegar.
The following parts are confirmed to work with this feeder:
• Test Tubes at McMaster Carr
• Suction Cups at Amazon (just take off the metal hook that comes with it)
