The Bv P 111 was a 'backup' design for the Bv 138 ('flying clog') from the late 1930s. The p.111 was to have been powered by three 1500hp diesel engines (Jumo 208) which would have made it very resistant to catching fire. When a production contract was awarded for the conventional Bv 138 work on the asymmetric p.111 was abandoned.
This model has been particularly difficult to get 'about right', there is very little solid information about the design and its Bv 138 'cousin' went through several versions with significant detail differences making it harder to use as a cross reference.
The spherical recess underneath the model is for mounting it on a 6mm BB or sphere magnet (recommended).
Revised (21-Feb-2014) moved BB position on recommendation of ZoeBrain.
