Product Description

German Battleship Bismarck [1941]
*Extra image shows red part connecting the gun turrets to the main hull/body, preventing them from detaching during the printing process. Snip/remove them to free the gun turrets off their sockets, taking care not to damage the individual barrels.

  • lead ship of the biggest battleship built for the German Kriegsmarine in WW2. Commissioned Aug 1940, he only had a short service career of 9 months, under Capt. Ernst Lindemann
  • (in)famous for sinking HMS Hood during the Battle of Denmark Strait. The Royal Navy gave chase the next 2 days, succeeding in knocking out steering on 26 May by torpedo bombers from HMS Victorious and Ark Royal
  • unable to maneuver and steaming in a wide circle, HMS Rodney and King George V were able to catch up on 27 May. Heavily damaged through gunfire, with all his guns disabled, an order was given to abandon and scuttle the ship. On the British side, light cruiser Dorsetshire was ordered to torpedo him while the battleships return to port. He sank 400nm west of Brest. Only 114 survived out of 2,200 men
