The NMRA Modern clearance specification is the most modern of the US model railroad clearance gauges, allowing for double stack container well cars, auto racks, and Skybox aircraft parts cars.

This set consists of two N Scale gauges.

The first is the standard Right of Way clearance gauge that will let you determine any clearance issues you may have with scenery or structures in place that might impinge on the railway. Unlike the older, smaller metal gauges this one can be used while power is on the track without shorting the power supply.

The second is for use with a short length of Kato N Scale Unitrack, to check clearances of your rolling stock. With this gauge, "If it doesn't fit, it doesn't ship!" The gauge can be used with other track, but the most accurate results will be with the Kato product sitting on a hard level surface. The width of the second gauge is such that it extends ¾" from the track centerline which will allow you to butt two of them together for precise 1 ½" spacing, the standard spacing for N Trak.
