Dilophosaurus dinosaur skull pendant, about 2 inches long.
Dilophosaurus is a species of Jurassic dinosaur whose name means double-crested lizard. Dilophosaurus was among the largest carnivores of its time, about 7 meters long. The function of these crests on the skull of Dilophosaurus have been the subject of speculation among scientists ever since they were discovered. These bizarre head ornaments may have helped males attract mates or perhaps they were a feature that the animals used to recognize one another.
