Attached Twist Cap Pen (048)

I present my Twisty Capped ballpoint Pen, designed to hold a BiC ballpoint refill (not included), which are found in both BiC Crystal and Round Stic pens.
The pen's cap is extended and retracted by screwing it up and down the threaded shaft of the pen's body. These two parts are printed together, in an interconnected way and can't be separated.

There will most likely be powder in the threads between the cap and body and the cap may not imediately be able to be turned. It can be freed up by gentle twisting, wobbling, shaking and tapping motions. Some trapped fine powder may be released once the cap moves freely, so please be aware that it could make a mess.

The BiC refill is push fitted into the pen body's tip. I would suggest using the Round Stic refills, as the refill's body is coloured either black or blue, rather than the less attractive brown of the Crystal refills.

The hole down the centre of the pen's body needs to be drilled out, with a 3.5mm (9/64") drill bit, to a depth of at least 40mm, from the pen's writing end. This is to remove excess plastic, that would otherwise prevent the BiC refill from being installed. The material was necessary during the printing process, to maintain the materials minimum wall thickness, in that area.

The centre hole may need to be further hollowed out, due to unfused powder becoming trapped within it. This can be done with a toothpick or other narrow pointed object.

The model is available in all the polished plastic options. However, when ordering the pen in the coloured plastics, the body may have some undyed white areas, where unbonded powder has become trapped, between the pen body and cap. This can be seen in some of the photos above.
