Southern Pacific's class G-100-15 Woodchip Gondola, commonly known as "ACES".
Built by FMC in 1971, Class G-100-15 consisted of 350 cars, SP 354400-354749
A common sight in Oregon and Northern California, many have been re-purposed to carry construction debris and can be seen throughout the country.
This model is designed to use the following detail parts: Athearn ASF 100ton Trucks or Accurail Barber B-2 Roller Bearing Trucks, Tichy ladder rungs (3062) Tichy 18" Drop Grab Irons (3015), Tichy 18" Grab Irons (3021), , Moloco Freight Car Appliance Kit - Klassing 1500 (CA0304), Yarmouth Models Proto2000 tankcar stirrups (203)
The car will accept either Kadee or Sergent couplers.
To reduce distortion of the sides during shipping, I added three triangular cross braces that need to be removed to complete the model. These can be removed with wire cutters and the sprue marks sanded flat.
The following hardware is also needed: Everbilt 8in Mending Plate SKU 242993 (available from Home depot). 2-56 Hex Jam Nut and screws (length TBD) to mount the trucks. M2 Countersink screws or equivalent for coupler pockets.
