Product Description
4-wheel caboose running gear with brake beams included. Based off of Charles Brommer's DSP&P waycar drawing as well as prototype 4-wheel caboose photos and Car Builder Dictionaries. Wheelbase is 9' and designed to accept wheelsets with the NWSL/Grandt Line On3 axle. Foothill Model Works also produces beautiful wheels to that fit these in either On3 or On30. These are O-scale and could be used for O, Proto:48, On3, On30, or On2 models...gauge is determined by how far apart you mount them. I typically use a #52 drill bit on axle boxes to verify that there isn't any wax remaining in them and to verify that the bearing surface is round. Be sure to check the axles for burrs and file them off (I've seen them before) Be sure to thoroughly clean the parts with hot, soapy water (FUD softens at 80 degrees C, so don't boil them). Any Opaque white you see is wax. If the layering effect is noticeable (it was on my sample...it is a product of orientation in the printer and I can't control that), you might want to sand the parts or apply a heavy coat of primer. There are a pair of sprues on the back which I recommend removing with a jeweler's saw...I do not recommend cutting these parts with a knife.
