About this Product
Modified version of Deluxe Airachnid's shoulder joints (from Transformers Prime). Have been modified so that the ball is slightly larger, allowing it to fit the ball-socket on RiD Arcee's arms.
This is for all those Airachnid fans who want to modify her to give her a good set of arms. Of course, once you've put Arcee arms on her, you've got to figure out your own parts/method to make/transform a vehicle form since Arcee's arms are way to big to fit the very limited room that Deluxe Airachnid has.
WARNING - to install these you must unscrew several small screws in the toy, and physically replace the original shoulder joints. You'll probably want to also paint these parts purple if you ordered them in white or black.
(1) I'm testing it in WSF Polished and Violet Purple. Will allow for sale after I've tested if its successful and a good fit.
(1b) Up-sized it by 13%. First prototype was great, but just a fraction too small in all 3 dimensions. New size works great but is like a half-mm too long to fully rotate up and in... not that you'd need to move the joints that far in robot mode. They don't need to move that far for the alt.mode I'm working on either.
(1c) Purple Polished looked great, but the purple was too bright to match the purple plastic of the toy. If you order in Purple Polished, you may want to use a purple permanent marker to darken it some. Or for that matter, you can save yourself a week worth of waiting by just ordering WSF Polished and then use a purple permanent marker to make it purple yourself (because ordering in purple means Shapeways will dye the printout in purple, which adds an entire week to production time because that's how long it takes them to dye it purple. I think its like 1 to 8 hours sitting in purple dye, and then the rest of the week air-drying it.)
(2) I may also release parts for my take on new armor panels for the arm and helicopter sides, giving her a wider helicopter form, along with a possible additional transformation to a jet-like form (still in the study/design phase). NOTE: the additional parts project may be cancelled depending on its price. Or I may change it over to be a free cut-and-fold paper/card type of thing. (all depends on the volume of plastic and the resulting price of 3d-printing the parts).
