There seem to be a lot of moving parts on Shapeways and I wanted to explore the possibilities of a new design. This widget has two synchronized gears in the shape of X's that are interlocked with gear teeth. Both of the Gears are attached to each other with a base plate, which has additional cut-outs in the shape of - guess what - gear teeth. Finally, this is all attached to a foundation joint that has two holes for receiving a Key Chain or Necklace.
I received the 3D Print from Shapeways and it's cool that the gears were all printed as one piece and rotate. In meetings, it gives me something to fiddle with - and, it makes for a good conversation.
This pendant was designed by me, Darren Hartenstine.
Flick it for fun. Hold the tab in one hand and use the other to flick the gears as fast as you can. Take it to meetings. You can tell your Boss that fiddling with something during a meeting helps with attention. There's Reports that back this up...
