Product Description
Perforated surfaces are found throughout architecture from old lattice-works in the Middle East to modern buildings in the West. I thought it would be great to apply to smaller scale jewelry designs and came up with the Perforated Honeycomb Ring.
Here you see it constructed out of a nylon plastic that is formed by an additive layer by layer process known as Selective Laser Sintering (a form of 3D Printing). I designed it to have a break on the bottom of the ring to give it a little more flexibility in terms of size. Each ring is coated with a clear protective finish. The end result is an eye-catching ring that is very lightweight yet surprisingly durable. This ring is similar to the original Perforated Honeycomb Ring but has a slimmer (less "chunky ring") fit which some prefer. The difference can be seen in the side by side comparison in the last photo which shows the Slim ring on the left.
