To build this locomotive, you need the chassis of a Märklin Z BR 111, BR 110, Re 4/4 IV or similar locomotives.
Die Ae 4/4 wurden von der BLS in den Jahren 1944/45 und 1955 in Betrieb genommen. Die Lokomotive gilt als erste laufachslose Drehgestelllokomotive mit einer hohen Leistung.
Vier Lokomotiven wurden 1965/66 zu Ae 8/8 umgebaut.
