Other than the original "Nuclear Ticoderoga like" concept of the Strike Cruiser, an alternative was much more like a US version of the Kiev cruisers - a VTOL carrier deck attached to a cruiser hull completed with an abundant armament of anti-ship and anti-air weaponary.
