Product Description

This clip is designed to hang your keys/wallet/prybar off the edge of your pocket or waistband, preventing them from clumping to the bottom. I was dissatisfied with current clips being sold like the TEC P-7 and Scout Hook and designed this clip to solve these problems:

  1. Current clips are waay too expensive. This is cheaper than the cheapest of them, plus it's custom made and 3D printed! How impressed will your friends be?
  2. Clips like the P-7 get deformed if you clip them onto thick seams, preventing them from ever holding on to thin fabrics ever again.
  3. Clips like the Scout Hook don't really grip anything, they just hang there.
  4. Some clips are so long that your keys reach the bottom of your pocket anyway, making them useless.
  5. There are no clips designed to hang onto waistbands, only pocket edges, belts and belt loops.

Due to limitation of the stainless steel, I am unable to design a clip with "spring" that can grip as wide a range of thicknesses as I would like. I have partially countered this by designing a wave entrance to the clip, enabling it to grip thin fabrics while still permitting thicker fabrics. This current iteration:

  • Measures 3 cm long by 4 mm thick (1.18" by 0.16")
  • Has a 2 mm "clear path" - it will fit 2 mm thick flexible fabric without compression
  • Is absolutely rigid; it will not deform in its intended use (it won't fit if you try and force it onto a belt, however)
  • Has a top loop for zero hang length and a curve with jimping that naturally fits your fingers for easy retrieval
  • Will fit on elastic waistbands like gym pants (top loop use not recommended in this case)
  • Is a compromise between fitting on thicker pants and grip on thinner pants. Note that it doesn't have much grip on anything thinner than jeans. But it's still better than just hanging there.

I've only enabled the stainless steels because this was designed and tested with those in mind. This would be too loose in WSF.
