Scale model miniature floodlight with adjustable angle
. Just add a small SMD LED (not included in this kit), for a very realistic looking tiny floodlight to light up your model railroad layout or diorama. This listing contains two (2) sets
of floodlights, consisting of reflector and adjustable base. Can be used for HO Scale, N Scale, or Z Scale
For significant cost savings on bulk orders, see also this listing for 16 sets
of these floodlights.
The reflector snaps into the base mount via the hemispherical studs on each side of the reflector, allowing adjustment of the floodlight angle from nearly horizontal to straight upward.
Simple assembly required: The base and reflector are sprued together in a frame. Cut the sprues off after cleaning and polishing, then snap the pivots of the reflector into the holes in the base. You may want to cut the sprues of the base, at the frame end, so that the sprues themselves can be used as mounting pins. The sprue on the reflector must be cut as close to the reflector as possible, and the cut-away surface polished a bit by hand.
The floodlight reflector front aperture is 4.25 x 5.6 mm, and can fit SMD LEDs of sizes from 0402 metric
through to 1206
(3216 metric). Don't forget to use epoxy glue or hotglue on the LED's connections after soldering in the wire, to avoid a short circuit with the floodlight reflector's metal body. A 1 mm hole is provided at the back of the reflector and also through the base of the mounting, to pass the LED wires through. Use a warm-white SMD LED for realistic "white" floodlight color, or an amber LED to simulate sodium vapor lamp floods used in some rail yards.
For an idea of size at your modeling scale of choice, the floodlight front aperture in these scales is approximately:
- N Scale: 26 x 35 inch - Medium sized floodlight
- HO Scale: 14.5 x 19 inch - Small-size floodlight
- Z Scale: 37 x 48 inch - Large floodlight
: Raw Brass or Polished Brass.
