Product Description
North Staffordshire Railway 10 ton Goods Brake Van, diagram 11, built c mid 1870s to early 1900s, double window type.
This is an accurate model in 4mm scale based on details in GF Chadwick (1993) "North Staffordshire Wagons" ISBN 1 874103 15 1, photo of no 60 built in 1874 and Stoke Works GA drawing dated 1888. Some of these vans lasted into LMS days, post 1923. Significant portions of two of these brake vans are preserved at the Foxfield Steam Railway by the Knotty Coach Trust, having been rescued from a barn in 2014. They can be seen stored in the museum by prior arrangement; it is hoped to restore one to running order in due course.
The model shown in the photo is an example printed in Smooth Fine Detail Plastic (formerly known as 'FUD'), but is an earlier version of this product, with a roof and a separate floor unit.
The builder needs to add a plastic or brass roof, 0.45mm wire for handrails and handbrake column,  the handle is provided in correct position and after the column is set in place the tiny sprues can be snipped away. For handrails drill holes at dimples adjacent to the support brackets. Lamp irons could be made from FB strip, slots are provided. The floor is designed for MJT 00/EM/S4 W-iron units at 9feet 7in; wheelbase. Fit NSR type grease or oil axleboxes, springs, clasp or push rod brake gear (depending on date) and round base wagon buffers (all not incl but most available from 51L Models).
Livery: NSR = goods brown (suggest use GWR Indian Red). LMS = grey. Letters white.

NB this model has been test printed in Fine Detail Plastics with excellent results but has not been test printed in Black Hi-Def Acrylate or Multi Jet Fusion Plastic Gray P12.
