Product Description

1:160 scale British Columbia Railway GMD GF6C - Integral electrical equipment

The seven GF6C locomotives operated on the British Columbia Railway's electrified Tumbler Ridge subdivision between 1983 and 2000. Built by GMD in partnership with ASEA, they are based on the SD40-2 diesel locomotive, with 50kV electrical gear instead of a diesel engine.

This version of the model has the rooftop electrical equipment as part of the body. A version of the model with the electrical gear on a sprue, to be attached to the model is also available.

Sprue of separate parts

Included in the model are the main body and a sprue with all the handrails and other parts which need to be added separately, as illustrated in the diagrams above. This version of the model includes all the rooftop electrical gear as part of the body.
I suggest using an SD40-2 chassis to power this model, as the prototype locomotives had and identical chassis and trucks to the SD40-2.
The part-relief underframe equipment detail should be attached to the side of the chassis block.
I recommend using acrylic paints for this model as they work well on the Frosted Ultra Detail plastic. Enamel paints have been reported to take an excessive amount of time to dry on Frosted Ultra Detail so should not be used.

Suitable transfers for the British Columbia Railway logos and numbers are available from Microscale Industries (product code 60-726).
