About this Product

From the Schlaboratory!
Camera Shutter cable release threaded fittings, designed to accept the male end of a threaded shutter release cable. Otherwise unavailable, these widgets are mathematically correct CAD renderings of the ASA tapered thread used by the camera industry. A remote shutter function can be added to any camera by adapting one of these parts or derivatives to your camera or an attachment.
Included in this widget-pak are a general-purpose glue-on ferrule, an M3-sized nut, and a ferrule with an M3 thread - all with tapered threads. I have received my initial samples, and the tapered threads work perfectly - they look a little fuzzy until you thread the end of the cable release into them.

The piece with the M3 threaded shaft needs chasing with a nut or die before a nut will thread onto it, but seems to provide a strong fastening. Strong, Flexible Nylon is the default material for these parts - I wish the parts could be printed in metals, but the resolution for other materials isn't sufficient to reproduce the threads.
In my experience, the default material is best, and after fitting the threads, can be painted to match.
