Product Description
North Staffordshire Railway 10 ton Breakdown Train Brake Van, built c mid 1870s to early 1900s, no side windows, enclosed verandah, conversion date unknown.
This is model in 4mm scale based on details in GF Chadwick (1993) "North Staffordshire Wagons" ISBN 1 874103 15 1, photo of no 60 built in 1874 and Stoke Works GA drawing dated 1888. It is accurate as possible based on all the surviving information from drawings and photographs. This van was replaced by a 6wheel vehicle in 1914.
The model shown in the photo is an example printed in FROSTED ULTRA DETAIL (FUD), but is an earlier version with roof and separate floor unit. The builder needs to add a plastic or brass roof, 0.45mm wire for handrails, and suitable door handles. Drill holes at dimples adjacent to the fixing brackets. Lamp irons could be made from FB strip, slots are provided. Floor is designed for MJT 00/EM/S4 W-iron units at 9’ 7” wheelbase. Fit grease or oil axleboxes, round base wagon buffers (not included).
Livery: NSR = goods brown (suggest use GWR Indian Red). LMS = grey. Letters white.
