Adapt vintage Mamiya NC1000 / CS lenses to your modern EOS DSLR camera while retaining inifinity focus and aperture function.
Best Practices & Caveats
Follow these rules and you can safely use CS glass on any EOS camera.
-When installing or removing the adapter the CS lens aperture ring must be in the f/16 setting.
-Install the adapter to the CS lens first, then seat the lens to your DSLR, like any other Canon EF lens. This adapter works like the Mamiya NC1000 / CS P-mount for M42 Screw lenses.
-This adapter utlizes a FRICTION-FIT-ONLY. This means when focusing and adjusting aperture you must secure the lens barrel with one hand, using the other hand to rotate the rings to ensure the lens itself does not rotate and fall out.
-While installed, Do not move the aperture ring to the "Auto" positon (the orange button). Doing so could result in damage to the lens. (See technical discussion below.)*
-When not in use leave the lens in the f/16 position to relax tension on the lens mechanisms, or just remove the adapter entirely.
-Many have asked if this adapter will work with Mamiya Z-series lenses. Sadly, without destructive modification to the ZE lens, this adapter is NOT compatable with Z-series lenses. (See techical discussion below)**
Further Technical Discussion:
* Integrated into this 3D Printed adapter is a spring that puts pressure on the CS Lens's M42 style aperture pin, which in turn mechannically stops down the lens diaphagm to the selected aperture ring setting. When the Aperture ring is moved to the Auto position the M42 pin in question is locked out and constant pressure would be applied by the 3D printed spring. When the lens is not in Auto, the pin moves freely and the 3D printed spring does its magic. If the pin is locked out, the spring on the adapter puts needless pressure on the lens internal mechanisms.
**ZE series has a totally different aperture mechanism which is a departure from the M42 style aperture function of the CS. With unmodified ZE lenses, there is mechanical interference between the ZE lens aperture lever and the EOS camera body. If the ZE aperture lever is removed, the ZE lens can be fitted to an EOS body, although at 90degrees off center, and with aperture function permanently lost (stuck at f/3.5). Best case, it wont fit -- Worst case, broken DSLR -- DONT TRY IT, or read this: http://bit.ly/1QH75gt
