Welcome to my garage!

I wanted to check the equivalence between theoretical mechanical values of the Strong&Flexible material and the real outcome.

For this, I edited a new material with the mechanical features of Strong Flexible and transposed these into the Finite Element Method (FEM) program, I designed a printable shock absorber and finally I tested both, the FEM an the real spring.

There is a ~18% gap between theoretical (FEM results, see above image) and practical results. This is an acceptable result when we consider the nature of the manufacturing process and the precision of this (spring section is only 4 mm2!).

Quería comprobar la equivalencia entre los valores mecánicos teóricos y reales del material Stong&Flexible.

Para ello, he editado un nuevo material con las características mecánicas de Strong Flexible y los he pasado al programa de elementos finitos (FEM), diseñé un amortiguador para imprimirlo y, por último, he probado el resorte con el FEM y con el modelo real.

Finalmente, encontré un desfase del orden del ~18% entre los resultados teóricos (ver imagen superior) y los prácticos. Esto es un resultado aceptable si tenemos en cuenta la naturaleza del proceso de fabricación, la precisión de este y las diferencias entre el modelo ensayado y el real (la sección del muelle es de sólo 4 mm2!).
