Product Description

Mont Blanc (Fr.) or Monte Bianco (It.) is the highest mountain in the Alps, and a popular tourist destination. Despite the intensely rugged terrain and myriad rock pinnacles, the summit is reached by tens of thousands of climbers per year. It is considered to be the birthplace of modern mountaineering, and was first summited in 1786. Far better than a regular map, our model of Mont Blanc contains a dozen sub-millimeter pinnacles and details and offers a stratospheric view of this famous peak.

This model contains most of the Mont Blanc massif and surrounding valleys. On the French side, the valley includes Servez, les Houches, and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. Pertud and the edge of Entreves are in the Val Veni on the Italian side. The Northeast ridge starts at Chamonix, and includes Aiguilles de Grande Charmoz, du Plan and du Midi. Gros Rognon and Petit Rognon are both visible even on the smallest model. Toward the peak are Mont Blanc du Tacul and then Mont Maudit. The French-Italian border extends East from there across the Arete de la Brenva, past La Tour Ronde and Pointe Helbronner to Dente del Gigante. The col between Mont Blanc and M.B. de Courmayeur is apparent on every model. The South face contains many steep ridges and sharp pinnacles, notably Aiguille Noire de Peuterey. West from the peak you can find Dome du Gouter, Aiguille de Bionnassay, and south are Domes de Miage and Aiguille de Tre la Tete. The Southwest corner of the model contains the steep valley of the Torrent de Tre la Tete. Les Contamines-Montjole and other small villages populate the far West edge of the model, though Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is just outside of the Northwest corner.

TinyMtn models are most affordable in the "Sandstone" and "White Strong and Flexible" materials. This model is in "Sandstone," which is a glued gypsum material. When you receive the model it will be ready for display, though it may smell funny and need some time to air out. "Sandstone" models are much more brittle than "White Strong and Flexible" models, but feel more like light stone. Do not soak it in water, though you can safely seal it with Polycrylic or a similar water-based clear spray sealant. Read more about this popular material here.

These models have been optimized for the above materials, and are not offered in other materials for strength or cost reasons. If you need one in another material, please contact us and we'll try to accommodate your request.
