Product Description
This is a conversion kit for Bachmann's N scale 2-8-0. The kit contains a new boiler shell, pilot, tenders shell and tender frame. The model uses many of the detail parts off of the Bachmann model. All pilot details are removed from the Bachmann model and mounted in pre-made holes in the WM pilot. There are holes pre drilled for the modeler to mount brass wire grab irons on the sand dome, and on the back of the cab. The bell, marker lights, steam generator, and power reverse are all taken from the Bachmann model as well. The Bachmann chassis will need to be modified slightly. The two mounts on the top of the chassis that hold the pickup wires will need to be shortened for the boiler to sit at the proper height. I made the front coupler on this model buy trimming the shank on a Bachmann dummy coupler and inserting it into the pocket in the pilot. Then I drilled a hole through the bottom of the pilot and coupler shank, and inserted a piece of wire to hold the coupler in place. The hole in the bottom of the pilot is pre drilled. For the tender, you will need a pair of Bachmann Commonwealth trucks. There are openings in the tender frame for the modeler to install an electrical pickup system. The Bachmann drawbar can also be reused with this kit as well. This is a second revision of this model, I have enlarged some of the piping to make it more durable, but it could easily be replaced with brass wire.
