1:160 Royal Celebrity Tours Ultradome #1001-1004

The story behind my developing these models. No manufacture had made models of the Ultradome cars so I had to work out some other means of getting the train. I tried several scratch building methods, but they all fell short somewhere, usually with the curved dome windows. The best result I achieved was by drawing the cars on the computer, then laminating the print and moulding it over a form to get the shape, and attaching the body to a scratch-built chassis. Though a fairly satisfactory result, I thought I could do better. Eventually I learnt about 3D printing and thought this could be the answer. After a long period of learning the design process I came up with all the variations required. I chose to leave the upper dome windows solid as on the cars they have several layers of window tint applied to shield the passengers from the sun and Ultra-violet rays. The lower windows only have a couple of layers of window tint, so I cut these out so you can see the interiors (if you want to add these features to your model) I have cast windows for the lower level windows – both clear and solid – that just press into place. These are available from me on request.
