+ Welcome

Hello peoples,

We're thundering on, adding new Shops, models & Co-Creator templates for you each day. This newsletter is all about Shapeways becoming easier. Small baby steps with significant long term outcomes.

We're starting to collect all sorts of great designs in themes.

We have a jewelery theme page.

And a collection for all the great Braille 3D printing models. You can customize each for yourself or that special someone.

We also have a theme for all the wonderful puzzles on Shapeways.

We also just launched search for the whole site. We hope that this will help you find what you are looking for. As the amount of models / shops and pages is growing so fast thanks to you that finding stuff was getting harder and harder. We also welcome feedback & ideas on how we can improve.

Expect a lot more of these themes in your Shapeways future. If you have a theme idea please contact me and we'll get right on it.

Kind regards,

Joris

+ SketchUp & Blender tutorials

google_sketchup.gif

We have two new tutorials. One tutorial is a breakthrough tutorial by Jed that explains how to get your files from Google SketchUp (free or Pro) uploaded to Shapeways.

For those of you who do not know, Sketchup is an easy and free 3D modeling tool and we hope that this will make it much easier for a lot more people to make new designs and Upload them to Shapeways. Thanks Jed!

Jeff LaMarche made an updated Blender tutorial for you all. Using this tutorial it is really easy  to upload your models made by using the powerful free and open source 3D modeling tool Blender.

+ Netfabb, awesome file repair tool

We found a cool free tool called Netfabb. Netfabb can help all you 3D modelers to find those pesky problems in your designs. In some cases Netfabb can automatically repair a lot of the problems. You can check it out here.

+ Co-Create Christmas Contest

 christmas1.jpg

We have Christmas treetop decorations that you can customize, empty cage rings, cuberts, techno belt buckles, doorplates, photo holders and lots more in the Co-Creator galleries!

But, we want moar (this is not a spelling mistake, it is intentional. Moar is a wonderful word that combines roar with more to signify that one wants something to a high degree or extent).

Designers working with customers to make and customize 3D printed items has huge potential.  To stimulate all you designers in our community to develop your own Co-Creator templates we will have a contest from today until December 4th. Winner of the best Christmas Co-creator gets $300 in 3D printing. Check out the post with rules and inspiration.

+ Private forum messaging

We got quite a few requests to make the private messaging on the forum easier.

If you want to you can now on your profile choose “Send Private Messages through email” and then save. If you do this you will get an email every time someone privates you on the forum.
