+ Full Color 3D printing

Dear Community,

The image below is not Photoshopped and it is not a rendering. It is a picture of Jiovanie's
Alien Grey model made by Shapeways! The model is made using our new
Full Color Sandstone material
and costs $83 (Incl Vat). Our extra cute Bowie the Bunny costs $5.00(Incl Vat).

full-color-3d-printing

This material is available for all models but there are some technical and design things that designers will have to learn first. We also have some examples of fun things that you (and anyone you know) can do right now using Full Color 3D printing.

+ Color Photoshapers

You can now turn your photograph into a 3D printed Full Color Photoshaper starting at $29 (Incl Vat).

+ Magic's Marbles

Shapeways Community Member Magic has been testing out some great little marbles with us. His Earth with Ozone holes or Happy or Sad Face are lovely. But how about you upload your very own photograph and have him make this for you (for $10)?

+ Customizable Iphone & Ipod Dock

Add your very own colors, designs, pattern or image to an Iphone dock. Upload a picture and it gets turned into a 3D printed dock for $66 (Incl Vat).

+ Technical information for designers

The Cubic Centimeter price is a rather astounding $0.99 including shipping. In order to upload models that can be Full Color 3D printed you will need to upload a VRML file with a single texture map or a x3D file. We have a detailed tutorial for that here. There are some design rules that you must take into account including a 3mm wall thickness, you can read about that here.  If you would like some information on the material and the 3D printing process itself, you can find that here.

+ The Maryland Plastics Injection Molding contest

From now until the 10th of February we will be holding a contest where the winning designer could actually win $2000 or more as a prize and see their design made into a injection molded tableware item sold all around the world. Check out our most ambitious contest to date here.

+ Become a Fan (I like Mike)

Mike (Youknowwho4eva) not only arranged the awesome injection molding contest for us but is also one of our most active and most helpful community members. We would appreciate it if you became a fan of Mike's Shapeways page on Facebook. He has donated all his profits from his Shapeways Shop these past months to charity and has some great work to share with all of you!
