Are you ready for a new set of colors? We’re matching the season again with a new set of ‘Winter’ colors for Dyed White Strong & Flexible. These new, slightly darker tones of red, green and blue will become available on Friday October 1st. In addition, we’ll offer Halloween Orange during the month of October.

You can still order the Summer Colors up to Thursday, September 30th (all orders with these colors will be completed).

Why do you move your headquarter to New York?
We move to New York to allow Shapeways to grow further. In New York we have more access to talent and potential business partners. Google and Facebook have offices there, but also Etsy and Twitter are located in New York City. This creates a huge talent pool which Shapeways can tap into. It also creates a great environment of investors, advisors and support companies enabling Shapeways to focus on growth and making it better for you.

But does this mean that Shapeways will become more US-centric?
No, we’ll keep improving our service for everyone around the world, not just US customers.

What will change for me?
We’ll be opening more production facilities around the world. This will lead to shorter shipping times and less (or no!) import taxes for you.

Will you still ship to Europe?
Of course! We’re still a global service.

Will shipping to Europe become more expensive now?
No. We’ll keep our production facility in Europe.

Does the entire company move to the US?
Customer support and supply chain management will remain in the Netherlands.

Will Shapeways become a huge corporate monster now? I love the ‘small company’ feel when communicating with you guys.
We love our small-company-culture too and we like to keep it that way. We don’t plan to grow to 1000 people anytime soon.

We have just released the first version of our new 'generated creator'. It's a web application that allows us to build new creators very rapidly. Peter Paul explains it in more detail and calls for feedback on our blog.

Shapeways has been nominated in the ‘Best Web Concept’ category of the Accenture Innovation Award.  If we win, we’ll get €50.000 in media help and €40.000 in cash. So if you want Shapeways to win cast your vote. We will then spend the money on features most asked for by the community. Peter explains how to vote on our blog.

Shapeways appeared on the national Dutch television newsshow ‘RTL4 Nieuws’ last Saturday. The main star of the item was Stijn van der Linden!

You can have your own Steve Jobs on your desk, looking slightly disapproving at your work. Dutch illustrator and designer Metin Seven designed it, and after getting it mentioned in some Apple media the coverage really picked up. Sites like Gizmodo, TUAW, Trendhunter and Super Punch have mentioned the model. Metin must be a happy guy ;-)
