As the year comes to a close we also want to thank you for your inspiration and support, for being part of the vibrant community of Shapeways.
Looking back 2009 has been a year full of really cool new features added, like the Shapeways Shops, metal printing for everyone, our co-creation platform and much more.
Do not think this is it, we have a lot more plans for next year. If you have ideas, as always, share them on our forum and we will try and use them as fast as possible.

Though December is supposed to be the white season, we thought our website looks boring with all the black and white renderings.
So we have reshuffled the galleries so you see the best rated models, give everybody the possibility to select a default thumb (not only the shop owners)
and we give you tadaaa: Color thumbs!
Shapeways now supports color upload in VRML so you will see your model in full color immediately! We support both color materials and fully textured models.
If you tag your model "color" and we get lots of these models than we might be motivated to buy a color printer.... So get busy and perhaps, well you never know what Santa brings us for Christmas.
If you want your model to be the first to be tested please send us models that:
• have a wall thickness of 3mm.
• have a single texture map. (You can upload VRML files along with texture map in JPG or PNG format.
To do this put both the texture file and WRL file in a Zip file)
• not have angles of less than ten degrees in them.

Wouldn't that be great, while working in your favorite 3D modeling program you have instant price quotes for your model?
How cool would it be to have an overview of all specifications of the materials that Shapeways can print in including their properties such as minimum and maximum allowed sizes, name and description, in your design program?
And how easy would it be if you could just hit the ' upload to Shapeways' button to upload your model to Shapeways directly from your Cad program?

+ Meet & Greet in Las Vegas

Are you in Las Vegas in the week of January 6th? We are!
We will be presenting Shapeways at Showstoppers, a press event prior to the Consumer Electronics Show.
Loads of press will be squeezing in front of our table to hear the latest news on personal fabrication through 3D printing. And of course there will be a major announcement…. Any clue?
