Some of the biggest news this month is a change to Shapeways’ pricing structure, detailed in this blog post by CEO Peter Weijmarshausen, and in this month's Shapeways Live (pictured below). Starting on Oct. 1st, the price of our most popular materials is being lowered, a handling free will be applied to all models, and the $25 order minimum will be lifted. This is a big step for us, and we’d appreciate your input.
+ New Markup Wizard Released Today
Just in time for the new pricing structure, today we’re rolling out the new Bulk Markup Editor, a super simple tool that allows all you shop owners to change your markup in bunches based on your specifications, saving you lots of precious time. We hope this proves to be a helpful way to make changes before and after Oct. 1st!
+ New Environmentally Friendly Packaging
I'm sure you're familiar with Shapeways packaging by now. There's the crime scene tape, the scotch tape, the bubble bags, the poly bags, and the multicolored peanuts. It's a regular fiesta in a box. Well, starting this week, we’ll be rolling out our new, environmentally friendly (packing peanut free!) packaging on 25% of your orders.
+ Whiter Whites and Brighter Colors for Full Color 3D Prints
After a few months of testing, and a collaboration with community members Stony Smith and Magic we’ve relaunched Full Color Sandstone! Your full color 3D prints will now have whiter whites, and crisp, clean, beautiful colors. Take a look at some of the latest full colour prints and maybe even try it out with a full color miniature you, using ShapeMe.
+ September Events: Let's Recap
This month we caught up with new and long-time Shapeways members at Tent London and Maker Faire NY (right in our backyard!), and led our second 3D design workshop, taught by Aaron Trocola. As always, it was great to meet old friends in real life for the first time, and connect with new ones. Keep an eye on our Blog and Twitter account for where to find us next!
+ Innovating With the Shapeways API
Lately we've seen some great 3D apps from third party developers using the Shapeways API. These applications make it easier for anyone to start creating their own 3D printed items. Want to go CAD-free? Check out tools like ShapeMe, ShipWright and EndlessForms. Or if free CAD tools are more your style, you'll love Tinkercad. Are you a 3D developer? Take a look at our API documentation and see what it can do for you.
