Newsletter September 1st
Hi there *|FNAME|*,

On August 19th, the team in NYC celebrated Shapeways' 3rd anniversary with a packed house at the Thompson LES Hotel (photos here!). We partied with friends and community members, some of whom came from out of town to join us. It was an inspiring night.

The team and I would like to take another chance to thank you for an amazing first 3 years. Our awesome community of makers re-teaches us everyday what it really it means to be passionate about creating. We couldn't do it without you.

Now, on with our regularly scheduled email newsletter goodness. :)

+  Let's Catch Up! - Community Meetups in NY and London

During the month of September, team Shapeways will be headed to Maker Faire NY and Tent London, and we'd love to hang out. If you're in either city, we hope you'll join us for a get together in New York on Friday Sept. 16th and another London on Friday Sept. 23rd. We look forward to seeing you soon!

+  Say Hello to the Materials Status Page

Last week during Shapeways Live we introduced the Materials Status Page, a place where you can go to find out whether materials are running on schedule, or experiencing delays.

Please note: the dates in your sales emails from Shapeways aren’t yet being updated to reflect changes in lead times -- it’s going to be a few weeks before we can put that into place. This means that for now, the Status Page will be the most-up-to-date source for this information. We hope that this is still a helpful tool in the meantime. Are we right about that? Got another opinion? Let us know what you think.

+  Welcoming Josh Levine

Josh came on board a couple of weeks ago as Shapeways’ new VP of Engineering. That means he’ll be working with our tech team and developing processes to help them build more cool stuff faster! Here's a little bit about Josh:

I've been programming computers since I was tiny, I love to drink coffee, play in my band, and create awesome products and services for top notch businesses.   I've most recently worked at Signpost.com and TheLadders.com and I'm glad to join Shapeways as VP of Engineering.  I've spent my life bringing ideas to reality and now with Shapeways I can align my passion for creating with the mission of the company I am a part of.  I am grateful for this opportunity and I hope that together we can change the world.

Us too. Great to have you on board, Josh!

+  3D Printing with Tinkercad and Shapeways

We're super excited that the free on-line 3D modeler Tinkercad now includes direct uploading of your designs to Shapeways! Tinkercad is a very fast and simple way to start 3D modeling - go ahead, read our short introduction and give it a try!
