Spring is almost here, and things are really starting to get moving. First and foremost, we are happy to announce that our much-anticipated new material launches today! We’ve also got details on the website integration with Facebook and Twitter, and a quick reminder on where you can catch up with the Shapeways team at SXSW and Maker Faire later this week.

+ Announcing the launch of Sterling Silver!
|

Bringing back Silver on a permanent basis has been at the top of the community’s and our wishlist for quite some time. I’m incredibly excited to say, the wait is over. :) The team has been hard at work these past few weeks bringing everything together for Silver to go live, starting today! Have a look at some great examples:
  
Silver is now available at $40/cm3 for the first cubic centimeter, and at $20 for every cubic centimeter after that. To give you an idea of what those numbers measurements might mean, here are some rough estimates of what a few common jewelry items might come out to, before markup. Please note that actual prices may vary depending on geometry and thickness.
Silver will be automatically added to models that 1) were available in silver in the past 2) fall into the jewelry category or 3) are currently available in metal. Mark up will be automatically be set to whatever the highest markup in your shop is. Check out the Materials page and the Silver design rules for more details.

+ Facebook and Twitter Integration

 Our development team is excited to announce a roll out of their own: integration with Facebook and Twitter on Shapeways.com. This will mean a few things for how you interact with the website. Right now, you can link your Facebook or Twitter account and use them to log in to the website. Over the next couple weeks, we’ll implement automatic updates to your Facebook or Twitter account when you
- favorite a product
- add a new product to your own shop
- buy a model
We think this will be cool because it allows for some easy ways for you to share the amazing things being made with your friends, without any extra effort. We’ll be sure to let you know when auto-sharing is implemented, including instructions on how to turn it off. After you've seen these changes in action, please let us know what you think.

+ Reminder: Party With Shapeways at Maker Faire and SXSW
|

|
Just a quick reminder that Shapeways team members are hitting up two big festivals at the same time this weekend, and we want to catch up! Bart and Ralph will be stationed at Maker Faire UK in Newcastle (March 12 & 13th) and will be holding a User Meetup on March 12th, while and Robert and I will be in Austin Texas at SXSWi (March 11th - 15th) and taking part in the SXSW NYC Startup Meetup.
