It would be fine if you could offer again your zbar2. we will find buyers beforehand. 2. i also have now an sx130(28-336m). one could get 78mm base(no cables inside). zbar in the future would be more than nice. maybe you could get member of stereodatamaker-group-yahoo-tech-group.

werner zbar i have i also made for 720 only but its is working with 590is. without going into much details. lens is decentered anyway and this deviation will change anyway when zooming. thats why i have added some corrections, one is permant, the other temporarily. pls search for europanorama in sdm-yahoo-list. I hope you will off the rig again. unscrewing camera-screw on and off allover again when changing batteries/cards is not only a pain but will destroy the plastic thread sooner of later. we have a fix. ok since my zbar is zoom(80-200mm) i must unscrew much more often. but i wold like to have a second zbar.yours for my second pair.

hi anthony in yahoo-techgroup stereodatamaker we are discussing an interessing new version of zbar. one where the cameras are not on a line anymore to minimize further stereobase/interocular distance. Actually a version for most interesting canon s95 is shown. Hello again. I have the right-angled adapters and werner bloos-digi-dat-cables. very reliable. i have now the thick cables. they must be velcro-attached otherwise the combo could fell off during shootnig-procedures. 2. of course i had to cut down one side of these adapters. its better using them instead of right-angles plugs. they could get destroyed. 3. i am using werners 720-zbar which is a good compromise due to the lens-movement e.g. after zooming or when upside down. the lenses are a bit offset against each other. outside zbar when sitting side by side its best to have them sitting on a L-SHAPED alum. bar. i made a rather complicated magnetic construction using magnets from harddrives. cameras could then easily be moved but access to batteries/cards was difficult. the reason for this was: if camera-screws were used the cameras moved around all the time. no symmetry at all. I am actually using a shim on one side of the left cams bottom-side of zbar. if shooting at 30m and zoomin i am adding a counter-shim. i have images on the files of the am group/under europanorama page 2. 3. i am thinking about whioch material i must select. werners zbar alu anodyzed. check also my tripod-adapter. glued a screw with araldite. very clever design with stitz-adapter. one has to see it in full action with this i can adjust levelling there. its size is very intelligent to "work with the camera-screws. I was using additional adapters or for 3dstereopanoramas. i also have a simple electric turntable. btw: werners minicanon-switch can have a remote-control-plug 2.5mm added. check also picture of my adapted sonice stereoscope (berezin or nvp3d have it) there is no better one. also used for youtube3d-viewing or any size. I will now let the vertical adapter(55mm SB) be made again-improved/prolonged to add a tripod-adapter. thank you for improving your zbar.

The Macroscope works, but not very well yet. I need to put in some time and refine it to make it work as intended. I will let you know when that happens.

About the macroscope, I will let you know when it is working properly. As it is at the moment, the field-of-view is too limited, and the project is currently "on the back burner". I have taken a few successful photos with it, but I need to refine it to make it work better.

Michael: 1. I use a "raw" mini-USB connector, which I grind back to a bare minimum before soldering on the wires. This allows me to get my side-by-side A720 rig spacing to 104mm. This is an actual measurement of my working rig. I was a bit cautious when I designed it; if I make another one I will space the cameras 102mm apart, and still have room for my compact USB connector. 3. It is so compact that I can get the A590 Z-bracket to have spacing of 76mm, and still use SDM. 4. The spacing of my wife's A70 Z-Bracket is 84 mm. This also is an actual measurement from her working rig. 5. The Z-brackets for the A720 and A590 are not interchangeable. This is because: a) The lens centerlines are a different distance above the base. b) The location of the little bumps around the tripod screw holes is different. My bases have accurately positioned dimples which correspond with these bumps. c) The tripod hole is slightly closer to the back of the A590 (1/2 mm difference). d) There are a few other small-but-important differences between the A720 and the A590. 6. I have never damaged my tripod threads. I DO take some care to get the 1/4" UNC fixing bolt exactly the right length (as long as possible without "bottoming out"). And, of course, I am careful not to over-tighten it. Both stereo cameras work perfectly (my side-by-side A720 rig, and my wife's Z-bracket A720 rig).

tony, could you pls answer my question also for the macroscope?if working for my a590is with one cable i would like to buy one. do you have 3d-images?

Solving the problem of plastic camera-tripod-mount: maybe we could use an axis which is mounted forever or temporarily on the camera and a special camera-screw. by this way we could solve the problem of mounting the camera on different thicker bars where no standard camera-screws can be used. i have also idea for a magnetic solution. ideal for a multiple-stereobase-bar. i already did it but it was too complex( bad access to cards/batteries). my mechanical skills are limited.

hello anthony, we are currently have a discussion in stereodatamaker-yahoo-techgroups-list. 1. stereobase of 720/590 must be 80mm. it can be made by shaving down both right-angle-adapter. on my first cable i did th cutting directly on the plug, which is a bad idea. since the plug must then be stabilized, otherwise the cable could break. 2. i would glue-in a metallic 1/4-3/8-adapter as camera-mount. I will let you know which one because i had troubles when i had the replace the camera-mount and attached it to my vertical-bar which has a custom screw. I had to file it down, when i could have left the other one which can be mounted to the original camera-thread. as i told we must examine why the adapter does not let the longer screw be mounted. berlebach of germany has three different adapters. the normal ones, one without collar and the longer 8.5mm one. the normal ones, or one of them could be used for your plastic zbar. pls dont give up your 590/720-design. the lens-tolerances allow to use the same zbar for both. we discussed this in he group and i have added informations to my images (europanorama on page 2 in files-section). more informations will be given about used shims(fixed and temporary) to adjust levelling.

Lens inter-axial is 84mm, measured. (A720is) To get them closer I'd need to grind down the USB connectors more; they collide unless the interfering corners are ground off. In the main photo, the USB connectors are in place; you cannot see them because they are hidden behind the vertical middle bars of the bracket ... and all the wiring is internal, inside the hollow bracket.

I calculated 88mm stereobase. far longer than my zbar(80mm)!

Can you pls show us the cameras with usb-cables mounted? a590is
