Well, this design has six rotors, so you get 8 limbs overall =) But they're all equally spaced out. Whichever way you do it, the blades have to be a certain 'chunkiness' to include viable joints, which means that her heli mode is probably always gonna look a bit uglier than we'd like. I'll be honest, I forgot about this project as I was having real trouble making joints that would hold her. I never fully tested the last version though, so I'll get it ordered soon and see if I have a breakthrough =)

yeah understandable...after i sent that one message i also got to thinking that if someone was to do the 6 leg design still, they could design it so three legs were on one rotor section (top) and the other three were on the other section (bottom)...and when you rotate them to line up they would evenly make three blades all equal length. and in spider form the blades would be 6 legs and then she would have her two arms. for 8 limbs total. was forgetting that in my first comment...lol

@Latherius Hmmm... It's possible in concept yes, but given the minimum thicknesses and strength for WSF I'm not sure how practical it would be on a Deluxe figure. You'd also either have to have one thicker rotor if all the legs were the same, or two thinner legs. Personally I'd go with the latter, but I think that would leave them too thin to take any weight unfortunately =(

I was wondering...from what I can recall Airachnid had three blades in helicopter mode...but she actually had 4 spider legs in spider and robot mode. Is there any way of making a feature that lets you over lap two of the legs in helicopter mode, so they look like one blade and still have the "joints" for the actual leg modes...and then when you split them in robot/spider mode you can adjust the rotor so it evenly separates them? Like the rotor piece for Blackout and Grindor from the 2007 and RotF movie figures.

@X3N0Wolf Thats great news. Glad to hear that more people are taking an interest in your prototype. For me, the copter mode isnt a big deal. Her spider mode is her big draw. But as you mentioned, getting a copter mode out of the legs would be very neat. Very tough choice. But I really think you might have a good add-on in the works. It looks like you really intend on getting a more screen accurate item, and at the same time, still use it in alt mode without becoming a "parts former". Good luck and hope to purchase one soon.

@80sGrimlock Well, I've had the latest prototype, but the joints still aren't strong enough to take her weight reliably. You can just about get a balanced pose if you have about six hours and a ton of patience =P But since there's still interest, I'll look at reinforcing the sockets some. It will compromise helicopter mode a little , but if that's not a problem then I'll go for it =) They do get her nicely clear of the ground when they behave though yes =)

These look like they will be exactly what I was looking for. I've seen similar in other shops, but they just aren't long enough! Yours look like they will get the figure off the ground high enough, just as she is in the toons. If you can get them to fold up into blades, then that would be cool. if not, thats just fine too, just looking for some good looking spider legs for this figure. Any updates on your end? THANKS!!

@X3N0Wolf I see, well I have started on my own by using the Hasbro spider legs, just hack or cut limbs and make longer legs with piping from my hobby shop and reshape with puddy.

@Fembotfan In this kit, 6. Once I've worked the last bugs out I'll make them available individually anyway, they're a bit potentially fragile in a couple of places so if anyone needs replacements they'll be available =)

@X3N0Wolf oh it will fit. I just need the legs. The legs will be decorated How many legs are in this kit?

@caked-up Ariel's work is epic indeed! I'm gonna see if I can get these sorted soon though, have done some tests and isolated most of the serious issues, I just need to get another test copy printed to be sure =) @Fembotfan That depends on how you plan to use them I guess. They're designed as a straight replacement for the original Airachnid's rotor assembly, so they have a 5mm peg on the bottom to plug into the hole on her top. If you plan to have a similar hole on your custom, then these should work tolerably well I'd expect =)

I need some legs for my Airachnis custom. Useing beast hunters starscream body. Will these here work?

You should brainstrom with FakeBusker on this website to work together on a set like this. He has just completed his Legion's class rotors legs so maybe you can get a deluxe size out together!

@Kilowog Haha OK, noted! The good news is, I've drawn up a simpler leg design that should hopefully lock together nicely in helicopter mode too. Going to order a test version soon (just one leg), and if it works, I'll get this model updated and live =)

Haha too right! I was thinking about mods for her, then realised that she needed so much work I may as well just design a whole new bleedin' figure! I haven't, yet, but maybe one day. These rotors are a start. Well, the materials alone come out to about 15 euros, or 18 in black (which is probably the better choice). Given that it's delicate, and was more of an experiment than anything else, I won't be putting much more on top. I don't think it's fair to charge people for my playing about, because this has been a learning experience for me more than anything else. I'm happy to let people reap the rewards if they like it on this one =)

@X3N0Wolf Piece of Sh**. I mean, seriously, it's just BAD. Out of curiosity, *if* you were to make this commercially available, even as a one off, how much are you thinking?
February 18, 2013, 9:48 pm
@HornetPrime Thank you sir, I do my best! I've had a bolt of inspiration for how to get this design back on track tonight, so I'll start work on redesigning it in the next day or two! Incidentally, may I ask what POS stands for?
February 18, 2013, 9:46 pm
@X3N0Wolf Take your time. But, I have designs on my own Airachnid custom, and for the life of my I couldn't make anything this intricate, or cool.
February 18, 2013, 7:35 pm
@HornetPrime Well, I'll see what I can do then! I'll have a tinker with the test copy I've got, see if I can get them into a decent state, take some pics and highlight the issues, then see what you think from there? =) Might take a while as I have other projects too, but if there's demand I'll do my best to meet it =)

@X3N0Wolf DUDE! PLEASE take another look at these. I would so love a set for my POS Airachnid.
February 16, 2013, 9:31 pm
Thanks! They're supposed to unfold into a set of six legs so you can replicate her spider-bot mode from the show. Well, actually, they manage that bit really well, it's folding back into rotors that's the problem! Due to the plastic expanding, the tab-and-notch sections designed to hold the rotor sections together don't work, so the separate pieces are all over the place. Only way to solve it right now is with a heavy redesign, I'm mulling over the best way to attack it, but ordering prototypes for this model isn't cheap, so it's not on my priority list right now, unless I see some demand for it =)
