About this Product

Here's the final version of my first project, the Vehicon head!

I decided to create this after a sudden inspiration that RTS Turbo Tracks would look great as a Vehicon. A trooper that had both car and flying-car abilities in one form... a Super Vehicon!

( Yeah, OK, I know Tracks' flying car mode is a bit naff, but, go with it... =P )

I've since found out that this head also fits perfectly onto ROTF Brawn / RTS Fallback without the need for the neck piece, and looks awesome! I'll be testing it with other figures over time, and any successes will be posted here.

So if you want a bit of variety in your Vehicons, grab some black and purple paints and a few of these heads, and induct some new warriors into the Decepticon ranks!

@X3N0Wolf Yeah. At its current state, it's a torso that looks too wide for a Vehicon. Too narrow and the torso would basically be just a wedge with shoulders sticking out of it, which makes the chest look like it has no definition.

@punchsydeiron So get it to stop about halfway? Sounds about right yeah.

@X3N0Wolf However, it might be _too_ thin a torso. I tested doing a mod like this to a junker RTS Tracks I had lying around. You might want to try to make it so the shoulders don't stay all the way unretracted, but not all the way extended, either.

@punchsydeiron Thanks =) That is a very nice mod, I might give it a shot sometime =) The Super Vehicon wasn't a totally serious project really, I just had the idea randomly one day and thought I'd see how it ended up. The head itself was designed for use on any number of figures with an appropriate ball-joint neck, not just him specifically. I'd like to either revisit this figure or do another one where the roof section doesn't end up on the chest, but I'm not sure where to put it instead. Was thinking of maybe having it attached to the back section and looking at ways of having it sit on there as elegantly as possible. I'll look into it one day =)

This is pretty awesome. Having said that, you should have a look at this mod. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/373048-rts-united-tracks-mod.html I think it would help add to the whole sleek-and-slender motif Vehicons usually have.

@X3N0Wolf Looks very nice indeed! I'll be having one of these with my next Shapeways order then, cheers for adding pics. :)

@glaug Right mate, pics are up =) Unfortunately as noted above, due to silver paint and camera flash the details are somewhat vague. I included a couple of the unpainted version on Fallback too for comparison. The silver paint I used is a bit old now, and I think that's affected the quality of the finish. You can see on the windows, I used the same paint there, it's not the greatest. But as far as the printed model is concerned I think it's pretty good =)

@glaug No worries mate =) The finish with FUD is pretty smooth too, though there is a little 'grain' noticeable in places yeah. I've got one of these heads sitting around waiting to be put on a custom, so I'll get that in place and chuck a photo up soon yep =)

@X3N0Wolf Ahh, cheers for the reply. Fair enough, I am a big fan of the smoother *SFP look for TF parts is all. :) Would you be able to add an image of the printed product?

@glaug: I could try mate, but given the increased minimum wall thickness, the quality would suffer. The ears/horns would have to be bulked out, and the pieces to either side of the mouth area would probably need work too. Also, WSF has a tendency to expand slightly, so getting the sizing right so that the inner section fitted properly could take a few trial-and-error runs, which would cost. Given my experiences with WSF at this scale, I don't honestly think the result would be desirable.

Is there any chance of an option for WSF or polished WSF?
