@Dimitri_Safarikas Now you can read the details in improbablecog's answer to me.

@improbablecog Thanks - that satisfies my curiosity.

@SueParr My apologies for missing your question. You're right about the thickness, these earrings go below 3mm in quite a few places, but are still printable. My understanding is that the Shapeways minimum thickness information is more of a best practices policy than a hard and fast rule. Where the thin spots are also makes a big difference. That being said, these are definitely pushing the limits, and I've had to modify them a few times. As far as the shape goes, they are pretty pointy, but they hang flatter in practice than they would appear from the images. I think a 90 degree twist would be too much, and make them dig in more, but a slighter twist might be a good idea. If anyone's reading this who has a pair, do you have any thoughts on the wearability?

@Dimitri_Safarikas I didn't get an answer from improbablecog, so I can't answer you. Sorry.

@SueParr I would also be VERY interested in the answer about the 1mm thickness. It doesn't seem to be printable in steel, and yet, it is ?

I downloaded this to look at the width of the part that goes through the ears, and it seems to me, if I've calculated correctly (my units don't match Shapeways' units), that it is only 1 mm thick, but the minimum thickness for stainless steel according to the comparison sheet, under "Materials", is 3 mm. But it is printable? If I were to wear those earrings, the pointy parts would stick into my neck. They would either rest against my neck, and irritate me, or, if someone came and gave me a hug, they'd push the spikes into my neck. If the hook was rotated 90 degrees, the shape would sit flat at the side of the neck, which is more practical.

These are much lighter than you would think by their size (which is a good thing). However, the stems are really large and therefore potentially difficult to get through your ear.
