Articulated Crayfish

Articulated Crayfish 3d printed Art Sculptures Shown painted with acrylics.
Shown painted with acrylics.
  • White

White nylon plastic with a matte finish and slight grainy feel.

This fully posable crayfish has moving joints - antennae, eyes, legs, claws, and tail - printed in place. It is inspired by the handmade articulated Japanese sculptures of insects and crustaceans, 'jizai okimono' which were popular in the Meiji era.

The default material is white nylon sintered plastic, which is relatively tough and can be painted with acrylic paints.

One of my favorite models on Shapeways. I've bought it several times as gifts. Awesome! More please!

Beautiful! What kind of acrylics did you use and did you have to use a primer?

Thanks! They don't come in steel because the metal options can't be articulated (yet). I'm currently solving that problem, however!

Great stuff! Obvious attention to detail, in praise of the purpose found in the design of the living sculptures they resemble! I love it! Can they be offered in steel?
