Zeiss 50/2 Planar Compact Hood

Zeiss 50/2 Planar Compact Hood 3d printed Mechanical parts Maker/DIY
[Please note, this version does not accept a hood cap] This hood fits to the existing bayonet attachment via a very tight friction fit. On first fitting it may feel you are forcing it, but this is normal and the mount has been tested across 3 different examples. Some prints may be very tight, but cleaning out the bayonet grooves will remedy this. This is a very compact hood for the Zeiss ZM 50mm f2 Planar lens, as a replacement for the £70+ one that Zeiss offers. It's incredibly more compact and has been calculated to offer greater shading. It's rectangular cutout is 10% wider than the lens' field of view for full frame and has been shown not to cause vignetting. On crop sensors such as M8 or NEX, there will also be no problems

I was really looking forward to this hood, the size and design looked great. The hood arrived today, looking good and just 9 days after ordering it. So far, so good... After repeated attempts, the hood would not go on. I decided to take the B+W UV filter off and try again. Wella, it goes on. Sadly though, it will not go on if the lens has a filter threaded on - which for me is always. Oh well. I suggest the Designer modifies this bayonet mount hood slightly, so the hood can be used with a filter threaded to to the lens.
