Artist Rendition
Sculptural rendition of the
Costa's minimal surface (Wiki) cropped by a slightly puckered cube. When I first saw this shape it reminded me of a vase that could not hold water because of the symmetrically placed holes through the surface (not counting the mesh holes in the product shown here). The surface can have varying numbers of these holes and is given a numeric value called genus based on the number of holes through the surface. This desktop novelty item is the approximate size of a Rubik's cube or baseball and is available in a variety of nylon and acrylic plastics.
