About this Product

This is a thinner, lighter version (with less booty) than the first Driving iPhone 5 Holder. I made this holder to fit most steering wheels, and with just two measurements I can easily modify the design to fit any wheel. As a commuter, I see people using their phones in their laps and not looking at the road, all day everyday. I'm hoping my idea will at least keep peoples eyes up, and their hands on the wheel! If you purchase one and send me pics of it in use along with a review, I will send you one of my Stelliform Owl shapeways prints!

Dimensions

IN: 6.38 w x 6.286 d x 3.824 h
CM: 16.206 w x 15.966 d x 9.712 h

I absolutely love it! Have you come up with the less expensive version? I would like to buy a couple of these but... Well you know, right? Just wondering, What measurements would you need?

@Morrob Thanks! That's the best comment I've had on it yet!

LMAO. I love this. The design is actually better than its purpose.

@figurebang that would be perfect

@howie Thanks Howie! I am working on a less expensive version as well as a universal adjustable one to fit most phones and GPS units!

WOW...I've been wanting something to hold my phone in that exact spot...but $109 is more than I'd like to spend. Great product though!!

We think that the product is great!

I presented a similar idea to another online company and the community lambasted the idea because they said it would lead to more texting while driving. Be prepared for the naysayers. I think your design looks pretty cool though. Good Luck with your rendition.

I look forward to it! Thank you!

Hi sansseraphim! I've been working on a design to make it adjustable and fit other products- I'll let you know when it's done!

I would love to be able to mount my GPS on my steering wheel. Is there any chance of seeing this expanded into mounts other than for iPhones?

@figurebang Nice, thanks for clarifying!

@erinautomatic yes erin, it's still accessible if you want to figure out the cable routing!
January 18, 2013, 5:45 pm
@figurebang dock connector would still fit in the open side, yes? (from what I can tell) How to route that cable, well thats another problem. ;)
January 18, 2013, 5:26 pm
@bartv yeah... I really went back and forth on that aspect and decided that having wires running to it on either side would be a bad idea, so I chose that orientation.

@ChristianA Thanks! Someone bought one recently (I wish there was a way I could send a feedback request through Shapeways to the buyer...) hopefully they'll make a comment here!

@figurebang this is an awesome idea!
January 18, 2013, 2:16 pm
Awesome idea! But I guess you won't be able to charge while driving?
