Well, after playing with my model, it behaves exactly as you'd expect it to. Being made up of 252 interlocking rings, there is a small amount of wiggle room between each ring. The cube slumps slightly under it's own weight, resulting in a small amount of deformation, which is consistent regardless of the forces acting on the cube. There is no elasticity despite the deforming shape, since the rings themselves are rigid bodies. For a cube, it rolls surprisingly well, as it continually deforms as it rolls.

I don't know how strong the model is, aside from the fact I can squeeze and twist it around in my hand, and roll it on the ground under my palm. It certainly looks fragile, as the model is tiny, just a little bigger than a cubic inch. I definitely wouldn't want to place anything heavy or sharp on top of it...
Such a novel concept. I've toyed around with the same idea using 3D renders. I think I'll give this one a go ;-)
