The ALCO S-2, first introduced in 1940, represents one of the classic early switch locomotives; almost 1500 were eventually produced and railroads from across the country counted them among their rosters. This N-Scale (1:160) locomotive shell is designed to allow for the conversion of a Life-Like SW9/1200 into an ALCO S-2 (complete with "Blunt" switcher trucks!). The shell itself is fully assembled while the handrails (as well as extra stanchions) are included on a separate sprue. No modification to the mechanism should be required beyond the removal of the existing SW9/1200 shell and the relocation of the brass 'tabs' that conduct electricity from the trucks to the split frame. Pilot holes for the handrails are designed into the shell, however they are intentionally too small (to assist those wanting to use brass wire or custom stanchions) and thus should be drilled out before final assembly. An additional piece covers the Life-Like's cast metal fuel tank, snaps into the shell and holds the entire assembly together. As with all Frosted Ultra Detail (FUD) models, cleaning, painting and decaling are required to complete the locomotive. Sanding with fine-grit sandpaper is also recommended on the large flat surfaces.

To Quote Jim Carrey from the pet detective movles: "fits like a glove" No mods needed on the doner SW-1200, body slips on tightly and looks great.
