About this Product

This locomotive fits over a LifeLike GP 18.A bit of filing might be needed for making the motor fit the body.

Side frames have to be removed from the body shell and attached to the donor mechanism (a Life Like GP 18 - the older version with the plastic frame - NOT the newer metal split frame version).
The donor's bogie side frames filed flat and super gluing the 3D frames on.

Is there a possibility of printing in brass? I've built one of them, and would like to try another. The plastic model is great, but could use a little more weight.

Hi! I just wanted to let you know we've selected this model to be shown as part of an exhibition to introduce kids and families to 3D printing at the Brooklyn Children's Museum that will be on display until January 2015. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Has anyone completed this model? I have a donor GP 18 mech that is waiting. I'm just hesitant to pull the trigger on something I haven't seen completed.

Of course you can, if you want to use a superior mechanism, cut away! But not for the faint hearted. Also the older mech is much cheaper , at least a third the cost of the newer mech. If you attempt this please let me know how it goes.

If the shell isn't made of metal why can you not use a split frame gp 18?
