Inking the dice is recommended to make the details and the numbers really pop out. My method is as follows: 1. Take some matt black acrylic paint (the kind used to paint miniatures), thin it with a little water, enough to allow it to pour like water but still be opaque. 2. Brush the paint all over the die, making sure it flows into all the crevasses, stippling with the brush if necessary. 3. Allow the paint to dry or use a hair dryer on it if you’re impatient like me. 4. When dry, buff the surface with a rag or power tool until the metal shows through on the prominent areas of the die, don’t use anything too abrasive like sandpaper as this will remove metal and could damage your dice.
